Roger Malina recently arrived in Texas where he has taken a position at UT Dallas. He has a joint appointment as Professor of Art and Technology in the School of Arts and Humanities, and Professor of Physics in the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. His goal is to set up an art-science research and teaching program that works on topics where science and engineering and arts and humanities meet joint challenges.
Carol LaFayette is a studio artist and an Associate Professor in the Department of Visualization, College of Architecture, Texas A&M, joining the faculty in 2000 because she was intrigued by the mix of art/science disciplines and broad, cross-disciplinary focus. She has chaired an Artist in Residence program for the past 8 years, and now serves as Head of the new Institute for Applied Creativity, dedicated to hybridity of disciplines, communities, and partners. She is PI of the NSF sponsored Network for Sciences, Engineering, Arts and Design (SEAD).Some of her artwork can be viewed at clafayette.com/inprog/nsmore.htm.
